Job Description

Teledyne Battery Products is actively searching for a proficient Environmental Health & Safety Technician to join our dynamic team! In this capacity, you will play a crucial role in coordinating, implementing, and refining policies and procedures related to facility safety. Your responsibilities will include spearheading risk assessments to guarantee the implementation of necessary Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) controls. You will oversee the development and execution of programs aimed at minimizing chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic hazards for employees.

Additionally, you will also be tasked with supervising the preparation, upkeep, and enhancement of environmental policies and procedures, safety protocols, permits, regulations, and manuals, ensuring strict adherence to local, state, and federal laws.

The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of the role and will apply their expertise to tackle a diverse array of tasks. Working under general supervision, you will tackle moderately challenging assignments, utilizing judgment to resolve issues and make informed recommendations. Your success in this role will depend on your ability to draw from experience and exercise autonomy in planning and achieving objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but not limited to:

  • Maintain records, manage various databases (including but not limited to contractor agreements, incident tracking, employee training, workman’s compensation data). Additional record maintenance and filing responsibilities associated with local, state federal regulatory requirements.

  • Test workplaces for environmental hazards, such as exposure to radiation, chemical or biological hazards, or excessive noise.

  • Supply, operate or maintain personal protective equipment.

  • Assist in new hire safety orientation.

  • Report all incidents and findings to the EH&S Manager and/or site management.

  • Develop and implement programs to improve EH&S performance as needed.

  • Manage and maintain Hazardous Waste storage including inventory, shipments, and properly prep for shipment (labeling, proper shipping container, and proper storage).

  • Manage and maintain onsite Wastewater pretreatment plant.

Required Qualifications:

  • Highschool diploma and some degree of vocational or technical training and a minimum of 2-5 years of directly related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience in a directly related field.

  • Ability to lift, pull, and push up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to work in an outdoor setting (hot, cold, direct sunlight).

  • Mechanically inclined preferable.

  • Previous wastewater treatment experience preferable.

Salary Range:

$35,090.00-$46,970.000
