Actalent Engine Test Engineer in Redford, Michigan

Actalent is hiring a hands-on Engine Test Engineer with experience in Internal Combustion Engines . You must have strong working knowledge of engines to be considered for this position.

Job Description

  • Communicate with applicable engineering customer(s) and\or group(s) to comprehend test requirements and ensure all testing needs are included in test planning

  • Oversee engine assemblies, test setups and services to ensure data quality, test efficiency and safety

  • Ensure content and accuracy of test stand measurement channel configurations/ outputs

  • Monitor test operations and lead engine failure root causes analysis’, as well as test stand / data quality troubleshooting

  • Communicate with supervisors of various test center support areas when specific support is required

  • Provide input with scheduling and planning tests for the Durability and Performance Test area(s)

  • Continuously evaluate the Durability and Performance test area(s) to improve the workflow process and overall effectiveness of the operation

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Engineering Technology degree with 2 years or more of work experience related to the powertrain systems and testing methods

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Good interpersonal skills with focus on collaborative communication

  • Strong ability to multi-task and make good decisions

  • Understanding detailed operation of internal combustion engines and ability to root cause investigate base engine/calibration issues

  • Familiarity with basic test and measurement instrumentation and sensors (thermocouples, pressure transducers, accelerometers, strain gauges)

  • Experience using data acquisition, analysis and plotting software applications
