Bombardier Principal Engineering Specialist, Engineering MRB - Aerostructure Design & Operations Support in Red Oak, Texas

In your role, you will

  • Influence company design standards for Material Review Board (MRB) items

  • Lead and coordinate the root cause investigation and resolution process for Wing and/or aircraft level issues

  • Recommend new cost-effective engineering MRB solutions

  • Educates other specialists within the group and wider on technical decision making and influence

  • Participate in Applicant internal audits and provide technical approval of MRB candidates

  • Develop network of contact throughout Bombardier

  • Work to resolve any manufacturing issues affecting site or customer acceptance to ensure continued airworthiness

  • Lead and coordinate the A/C level requirement and design solution development for complex problems leveraging transformation and Bombardier Engineering System (BES )

  • Lead and coordinate the Problem Report (PR) investigation and resolution process for A/C level issues Customer Facing – problem resolution in support of Delivery and STC’s & support to customer advisory councils

  • Participate in rulemaking in area(s) of specialization

  • MR&O development support for Red Oak product (review and acceptance)

  • Collects and dispositions Lessons Learned with KD for MRB items

  • Identify opportunities with Sourcing for program cost savings

  • Influence KD strategy, objectives, key SME participant for review with Fellows , identify skills gaps

  • Witness selected testing, inspections, and/or audit as part of oversight on behalf of the Applicant

  • Mentors Engineers from his/her technical discipline

  • Support programs in Major Manufacturing issues – Major RNC’s, Major Non-Disclosure

  • Technical guidance to Programs and Corrective Action Review Board (CARB)

  • Technical process oversight and adherence to TRL, Maturity & Exit Gate Criteria

  • Work with Management on Product Change Request (PCR) process, cycle times, optimized solutions

  • Validate technical processes & Knowledge Standards meet Best Practice

  • Enforce adherence to BES practices and Knowledge Standards to promote product line integrity and consistency

  • Support problem solving in the Knowledge Domain across product lines

  • Recommend development action of Senior Engineering Specialists (SES) as part of Performance Development Plan (PDP)

  • Perform ROM business cases and statements of work for technical studies Lead aircraft studies having multi-disciplinary inputs

  • Lead Strat Tech team thinking regarding certification, safety and producibility of projects

  • Share Industry and Regulatory Development with KD`s

  • Multi-disciplinary alignment for Triage, CARB and AOG issues when necessary

As our ideal candidate

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering. May have a PHD related directly to a field of expertise.

  • Over 15 year or more of relevant experience in a specific aerospace engineering field

  • Has experience on at least 2 or more development programs.

  • You have strong knowledge of interactions between loads and structures.

  • You have sound engineering judgment and problem-solving skills, you are responsible and accountable, with a positive “can do” attitude, and can positively interact, communicate, and coordinate activities with peers, management, collaborators.

  • Expert in one or more areas

  • You have a solid understanding of civil aircraft certification rules and experience in certification procedures.

  • Advanced knowledge in a specific field and a breadth of knowledge of many aircraft systems

  • You have strong oral presentation and technical writing skills.

  • May perform as a regulatory authority delegate in the field of expertise
