As a member of Santander’s retail banking division you’ll help serve Santander’s retail and small business customers as part of one of the top banks in the United States based on deposits. Recovery representative responsible for the recovery of secured and unsecured charged off loan portfolios. Acting as a single point of contact for the customer, the Recovery Representative will be responsible for determining the collection strategy of charged off accounts, whether they are to be collected internally or assigned out to an external agency as well as negotiating acceptable repayment or settlement terms on behalf of the bank. Emphasis on problem and dispute resolution as well as settling outstanding debt with the bank.II.


  • charged off loan portfolios to determine application of internal collection strategies or external placement of accounts.

  • Review aged portfolios for change in customer status that may provide collection opportunity.

  • Locate and Contact customers in an inbound/outbound dialer environment to serve as a point of contact for charged off debt resolution. Provide customers settlement options and repayment options approved by the bank that are appropriate to the situation.

  • Skip trace on customers without effective points of contact.

  • Prepare financial settlement packages for approval by manager/committee.

  • Interface and coordinate with external collection agencies to support debt resolution.

  • Support customer inquiries with regard to charged off debt, obtain documentation to provide to customers in order to advance recovery efforts.

  • Assist in regulatory/statutory processing of accounts; 1099c preparation, credit bureau reporting, settlement documentation.



  • HS Graduate or equivalent some college preferred.

  • Business Experience: 3-4 years prior experience handling advanced collection issues pertaining to banking products and demonstrated proficiency in a related role Technical.

  • Qualifications & Skills: Ability to work with Excel, Access, MS Word, as well as ability to learn all in-house applications. IV.

  • Ability to gather relevant information into a presentable formal documented format.

  • Effective communication skills; persuasiveness, ability to negotiate to meet objectives established by department and bank.

  • Knowledge of all applicable laws including; FDCPA, SCRA, TCPA, GLB, state statutes of limitation on debt and all other applicable regulations

  • Ability to make independent decisions on placement of accounts with agencies, settlement of debt and all other applicable strategies with regard to customer accounts.
