GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION

All Hinds Community College employees must commit to the Caring Campus approach to student engagement and daily apply these general behavioral objectives: listen to student questions and concerns with a positive attitude and make meaningful connections with students.

Provide college-wide supervision and budgetary control over the following areas: Enrollment Center, Records, Registrar, Athletics, Student Recreation, Housing, Counseling, Advising, and Deans of Students. This position is also responsible for working to build strong communications internally and externally and to project a positive image for the College to the public.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Masters’ Degree required. Ph.D. preferred. Five years’ experience in a higher education administration. Community College experience preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Other duties may be assigned.

Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices.

  • Supervise College Registrar.

  • Supervise the Associate Vice President of Student Services/Dean of Students overseeing the areas of Deans of Students, Discipline, Housing, Student Recreation, Counseling, Single Stop, Student Development, and Deputy Title IX Personnel

  • Supervise the Director of Enrollment Services Operations in overseeing all Admissions/Enrollment Center processes

  • Supervise the Athletic Director in overseeing all athletic activities and fundraising for athletics

  • Maintain and strengthen communication with community leaders

  • Chair the SSC (Student Services Council) meeting

  • Serve as Executive Sponsor of Workday Student implementation

  • Maintain and support the Student Service portion of the Hinds Community College Strategic Plan

  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the appropriate authority

  • Leads staff to create a student-centered culture related to the mission, vision, values of the college.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervise the Registrar, Associate Vice President of Student Services, Dean of Students and Director of Enrollment Services Operations.

Athletic Director. Responsibilities include interviewing, recommending, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
