Responsibilities

This position is based in California and supports all CommonSpirit Pharmacies within the state.

Job Summary / Purpose

The Region Director, Clinical Pharmacy Services is responsible for developing Region-level strategies to implement the system-level strategy, vision, business and implementation plans to support pharmacy clinical services for optimization of safe, efficacious, cost-effective and reliable medication use and delivery at CommonSpirit Health in their respective Region.

The role collaborates with the CSH System for clinical pharmacy activities, ranging from cost savings initiatives to clinical formulary compliance, to ensure stewardship of our financial resources. This position is accountable for markets and region clinical pharmacy alignment, including dosing and treatment protocols, antimicrobial stewardship, medication reconciliation, and clinical infusion services . This position serves as the resource and liaison for clinical pharmacy specialists and managers across the region. This position also serves as the regional clinical resource to medical and nursing staff and other members of the care team on clinical pharmacy matters, clinical education, and staff development. The Region Director, Clinical Pharmacy Services is responsible for Regional P&T and Medication Safety and works closely with the regional procurement managers to ensure adequate medication supply during shortages. This position will be responsible for oversight of Ambulatory/Clinic based pharmacists, population health management and contributions to value based contracts.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  • Participate in the CommonSpirit Health System and Region-level Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee process to ensure efficacious, safe and cost-effective medication use that optimizes contracts in a standardized approach and to determine if more restrictive formulary statuses are needed for certain medications used within the Region

  • Create and be fully accountable for the pharmacy clinical services budget and business, including labor, purchased services and software for their Region.

  • Lead implementation of all clinical operations improvements to achieve clinical excellence, standardize processes and outcomes, improve pharmacy revenue, and reduce expenses for their Region.

  • Participate in the development and oversight for ambulatory and clinic based pharmacists and programs across their region to improve population health and participate in value-based contracts where appropriate.

  • Participate in pharmacy-related research opportunities

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree or BS in pharmacy with graduate degree

  • Current and active CA Pharmacy license

  • 5 years of management experience

  • 10 years of pharmacy or health-system experience/clinical pharmacy experience

Pay Range

$84 - $135 /hour
