SOS International LLC VDI Engineer / Senior Systems Engineer in Ramstein, Germany

Overview

SOS International LLC (SOSi) is seeking a VDI Engineer/Senior Systems Engineer at Ramstein AFB, Germany in support of a large, mission-essential IT services program with continuous (24x7) operations. The candidate will assist our A6 clients with required systems that support IT mission environments. Involved with developing and maintaining documentation and technical input to requirements analysis, design and engineering, testing, implementation, and architecture documentation for new, evolving, and existing IT systems. This position is an intensive experience in telecommunications/communications and computer integration. Responsibilities include assessing system performance, planning for new and evolving IT systems, evaluating design proposals for the migration of existing functionality, and making recommendations for corrections and enhancements.

Essential Job Duties

  • Conducts and/or participates in strategic planning, studies, and evaluations to provide resource requirements, present recommended solutions, determine labor and tools estimates, and plan/refine schedules.

  • Provides feedback to both short-range and long-range planning activities to enhance performance and improve efficiency.

  • Provides design and engineering support for new network and system implementations and upgrades to include hardware, software, projection systems, video switching hardware, video teleconferencing, and other systems to meet project requirements.

  • Provides on-site systems architecture, analysis, design and engineering support services for Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) networks.

  • Supports NIPRNet and SIPRNet enterprise network consisting of netflow collector and analyzer module, network configuration manager, network mapping, and IP address management (IPAM) module. network managements systems will manage and monitor respective networks.

  • Provides on-site systems architecture, analysis, design, and engineering support services for unclassified and classified data centers and data center COOP.

  • Provides on-site systems O&M and engineering support services for communications networks with respect to routing, switching, and security. Service coverage includes Virtual Private Network (VPN) gateways, Intrusion Protection Systems, Firewalls, and network infrastructure devices.

  • Develops solutions to complex problems for telecommunication activities, including planning, designing, integrating, installing and maintaining large-scale telecommunications/ communications networks and services with computer systems. Includes satellite, microwave, broadband, fiber optic, wireless, voice, video and digital telecommunication systems.

  • Integrates communications with computer systems to provide complete systems solutions.

  • Applies telecommunications/communications engineering principles and theory to propose design and configuration alternatives.

  • Evaluates existing communications systems to identify deficiencies and network performance issues.

  • Consults with users, managers, and senior staff to ensure that deficiencies and alternatives have been fully identified and that the solution will meet requirements.

  • Analyzes network performance, usage and traffic flows, accesses and interfaces, transmission techniques, and protocols to interface with computer systems.

  • Prepares studies and deliver presentations concerning data communications concepts integrated with computer systems and applications for total systems solutions.

  • Provides training and guidance on internetworking product and technology topics.

  • Supports the acquisition of hardware and software as well as the operations and maintenance of the hardware and software on the servers.

  • Support implementation plans of new configurations for insertion and integration into the network.

  • Participates in special projects as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Active in scope TOP SECRET clearance.

  • BA / BS Degree in information technology, network management, telecommunications, cybersecurity, national security strategy, or a related field.

  • Requires a minimum of eight (8) years’ experience, with five years specialized experience.

  • Must be able to obtain certification as a Technical Expert by the German Government under the Technical Expert Status Accreditation (TESA) process.

  • An IAT II certification (CCNA-Security, CND, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, or SSCP) or higher is required.

  • VMWare Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Certification.

  • CCNP Security Certification.

  • Must be willing to work overtime, after hours, holidays, and weekends, as necessary.

  • Understanding of US Air Force IT operational and technical requirements and an advanced understanding of US Air Force IT applications and network systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ITIL Foundation certification.

  • Knowledgeable in the mission and OCONUS operational requirements of the US Air Force.
