Structural Engineer Intern

Summit Design and Engineering is seeking Structural Engineer Intern. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of structural design experience. This EI will work with our Structural team based in Raleigh.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs designs and analyses on projects under the direction of a senior structural engineer

  • Provides drafting of constructions documents utilizing Revit (preferred) or AutoCAD.

  • Assists in the preparation of technical reports and specifications

  • Performs basic calculations

  • Performs field work, including observing and documenting existing conditions and taking measurements in a variety of environments

  • Inspects construction site to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering plans, specification and construction and safety standards

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering

  • 2+ years of experience preferably in Structural Engineering

  • EIT certificate

  • Experience with Building Structural Engineering AutoCAD and REVIT software

  • Experience with structural engineering analysis software such as RAM Steel and RAM Elements

  • Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) preferred

  • Ability to collaborate

  • Problem solving and analysis

  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time

  • Ability to drive, visit job sites and walk on rough and uneven terrain, climb and balance (on a ladder), and enter a crawlspace as needed
