RedHat Senior Manager, Product Security Engineering in Raleigh, North Carolina

Job summary

The Red Hat Product Security team is adding a Senior Manager with a significant understanding of security technologies. In this role, you will ensure that Red Hat's offerings and services continue to receive exceptional security response and remediation, with an emphasis on supply chain risks. You'll have the opportunity to hire and onboard a rapidly expanding and globally-distributed security engineering team and also develop current associates into new expanding roles within a fast-paced, rapidly changing, and demanding environment. As a Senior Manager, you will regularly collaborate with colleagues throughout the product security, technical support, development, and quality engineering (QE) teams to meet objectives and achieve success. As a Senior Manager, you will have people management responsibilities, so a healthy emphasis on associate career growth, as well as collaboration, transparency, inclusion, and trust, will be essential for you as a senior-level leader at Red Hat. The work location for this position is flexible, though applicants in the United States and Canada will be preferred, and home-based, remote candidates will also be considered.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day management of a product security engineering team responsible for the security of the productization pipeline

  • Coach, mentor, and provide direction to individual contributors and guide the overall accountability and performance improvements

  • Assist with talent acquisition (TA) hiring initiatives and in the onboarding of new team members

  • Guide global operational consistency and ongoing quality improvement processes

  • Collaborate regularly with leadership to ensure alignment and deliver results to meet objectives

  • Help manage the backlog of work and prioritize partnership with senior leaders

  • Serve as an agent of change to help mature the organization, adopt and promote the Red Hat culture, and emphasize the focus on customers

  • Develope rapid response contingencies to escalations and security events

Required skills

  • 5+ years of experience in a software engineering environment, preferably within the enterprise software or information technology (IT) industries

  • Relevant knowledge and significant understanding of security technologies, particularly security requirements around NIST 800-161 for supply chain risk management, NIST 800-53, and NIST CSF

  • Experience with people management and developing and maintaining high-performing teams while providing current, direct, and actionable feedback; experience managing a globally-distributed team is a plus

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and data-driven with demonstrated ability to help teams meet and exceed performance objectives

  • Ability to excel in achieving targets, establishing priorities, and meeting swift deadlines in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, and demanding environment

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with associates from diverse cultural backgrounds and the flexibility to work with widely distributed and remote teams

  • Outstanding communication skills and relationship building skills to collaborate with stakeholders ranging from individual contributors to executive management

  • Extensive technical expertise, industry experience, and good judgment to plan and accomplish goals; you can expect a wide degree of creativity and latitude

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and work well under pressure

  • Familiarity with open source software and open source as a business model

  • Knowledge of Red Hat's portfolio of offerings and subscription business model

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a technology-related discipline is a plus

  • Industry certifications like Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (CSSLP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Project Management Professional (PMP), or similar are a plus
