Google Senior 2D Graphics Engineer, Chrome Browser in Raleigh, North Carolina

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5 years of experience with 2D/3D graphics development in C++.

  • Graphics development experience, working with one or more modern 3D graphics engines or web-based graphics libraries (Unity, Unreal, OpenGL, WebGL).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.

  • 5 years of experience with Graphics APIs (SVG, Canvas2D, OpenGL, WebGL, or Vulkan).

  • 5 years of platform development experience (Android, Chrome on Linux, Web).

  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.

  • Experience with management, graphics, 2D graphics, mobile graphics, and imaging.

Within Chrome Graphics, the Skia Graphics team is responsible for delivering compelling 2/2.5D graphics features for all of Google’s platforms. Our team mission is, “Pixels on all platforms.” Skia is a complete 2D graphic open source library for drawing text, geometries, and images.

Partnering closely with native designers and web developers, we work on underlying rendering to make graphic designs and effects come to life in Chrome, Android, Flutter, and many other products across Google. We also deliver graphics for external partners across the industry.

As a Senior 2D Graphics Engineer, you will be part of a team working on advancing vector graphics to support delightful creatives.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $161,000-$239,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Enhance capabilities and performance of effects in Skia Graphics and contribute to graphics test coverage and infrastructure.

  • Follow and implement new capabilities with emerging hardware and drivers (GPU, Compute) and work with partners to deliver new graphics APIs in client platforms.

  • Interact with design and engineering teams to build cross-platform solutions.

  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.

  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
