Meta Postdoctoral Researcher, Pytorch (PhD) in Raleigh, North Carolina

Summary:

PyTorch is looking for strong Postdoctoral Researcher candidates to work on optimization techniques for AI Accelerators. Our team works on Accelerator Performance for Deep Learning workloads across the stack - performance tooling, benchmarking, kernel authoring, compilation, and enablement. Our work is key to Meta making efficient use of its AI fleet, and ML Engineers being able to move fast with model exploration, without the friction of performance considerations. We have strong partnerships with customer teams in GenAI, recommendation systems, and content understanding.A Postdoctoral Researcher in PyTorch typically works in a manner similar to a researcher at a university. We provide an environment where the researcher can draw inspiration from the problems Meta faces - scale, complexity, and constant change. The specific research area may include 1) the application of compiler techniques targeting AI Accelerators and 2) optimization techniques for training and inference of very large models.For this position, the researcher will engage with the supervisor and other researchers and engineers to create and implement a research agenda and publish world-class research.

  1. Perform research to advance the science and technology of Machine Learning, especially in the area of AI Frameworks like PyTorch.

  2. Collaborate with your supervisor and other researchers + engineers to develop a research plan targeting real world problems with high impact.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a PhD degree or completing a postdoctoral assignment in Computer Science or a similar field. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.

  2. Research background in AI Accelerators, ML Systems, HPC, Machine Learning, Compiler, Optimization, or similar field.

  3. Experience communicating research, e.g., published peer-reviewed papers with presentation.

  4. Experience coding in Python, C/C++, C#, or other similar languages.

  5. Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

  6. Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.

  1. Publications at peer-reviewed conferences/journals (ASPLOS, ISCA, Micro, HPCA, ICML, ICLR, NeurIPS, CVPR, ECCV, SIGGRAPH, CoRL, ACL, NAACL, EMNLP, ICCAD, DAC, or similar).

  2. Research and engineering experience demonstrated via grants, fellowships, patents, internships, work experience, and/or coding competitions.

  3. Experience solving complex problems and comparing alternative solutions, trade-offs, and diverse points of view to determine a path forward.

  4. Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment.

Public Compensation:

$117,000/year to $173,000/year + benefits
