WRAL.com is seeking a seasoned journalist with excellent news judgment and an unquenchable sense of urgency to run breaking and day-to-day coverage on our award-winning digital platforms. This person will work closely with television news, social media and video teams to generate story ideas and plan coverage andndash; written, video and multimedia andndash; to deliver the most compelling stories and information on web, apps and social media. Content will be a mix of original, re-purposed and aggregated material designed to inform, educate and entertain our digital audiences.

As Managing Editor you will train and supervise digital contributors in the creation of copy, headlines, social posts, video and overall story presentation. You will balance daily staffing needs with long-term projects to meet goals for audience growth andretention, social referrals, engagement and video views. You will also help to trouble-shoot technical challenges related to live and on-demand video for the Web and will pitch in on breaking news across platforms.

Newsroom management experience, a mastery of AP style, video editing skills, web analytics proficiency and five yearsand#39; experience in a breaking news environment are preferred. A four-year college degree and a pre-employment drug screening are required.
