Summary:

This teammate is an integral partner in supporting the overall financial planning and analysis function of finance. This teammate functions as the support to the Senior Director and VP of FP&A and interacts with both actuarial and accounting teams as well as operations, as needed. Teammate will be assigned specific areas of the financial statements or lines of business for particular focus. This role is an integral player in driving successful business outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting comparisons of actual to budget and forecast

  • Analyze actual results, budget and forecast variances and provide explanations and other analysis

  • Interface with department owners to understand variances between actual performance and budget

  • Assist in the preparation and review of financial statements

  • Own budget and forecast inputs for area of responsibility

  • Build and maintain financial models

  • Provide reporting and analysis of key business drivers and operating metrics

  • Participate in preparation of presentations to executives, board, and investors

  • Provide ROI analysis for operational strategies

  • Performs research and analysis as required

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting

  • Experience working in the managed healthcare industry (preferred)

  • Minimum of four years of experience in Finance or Accounting related roles; one year or more supervisory experience preferred.

  • Experience with NetSuite, Hyperion, and SmartView (preferred)

  • Experience with financial modeling (preferred)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with both fiscal and non-fiscal management staff and stakeholders both verbally and in writing

  • Must be self-motivated, creative, detail oriented and able to work independently to meet deadlines within time constraints

  • Advanced-level computer skills and proficiency in MS Excel required, intermediate proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint

  • Basic knowledge of US GAAP; solid financial acumen and highly proficient in accounting/financial principles

  • Ability to interpret results and recommend improvements

  • Strong alignment with workplace culture.

  • Ability to travel up to 10%. 

Physical Requirements

  • This job operates in a professional office setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Normal manual dexterity is required.

  • Normal speaking and hearing abilities to interact with others in an office environment, over telephone or other video conferencing platform.

  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and reach with hands and arms and continuously repeat the same hand, arm finger motion many times as in typing.
