Eaton Corporation Lead Power Electronics Engineer in Raleigh, North Carolina

Eaton’s ES AMER Sector Integration division is currently seeking a Lead Power Electronics Engineer. This position offers a HYBRID work schedule at our Eaton location in Raleigh, NC. Relocation assistance will be provided for those residing in the US. Corporate Sponsorship assistance will be provided for this position.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $123,500 - $143,000 a year.

What you’ll do:

Eaton’s PE CoE accelerates the company’s growth through the development of power electronics technology platforms and common hardware building blocks that are scalable, cost-effective, and manufacturable, as well as standardized design methodologies that can be adopted by multiple business units, which provide a foundation for our business to more rapidly develop innovative products. This individual will be a member of the PE CoE and play a key role in driving the development of technology platforms, common building blocks, and design methodologies to be leveraged by multiple business units.

In this role:

• Lead power electronics design and development activities and demonstrate start-finish ownership for the assigned tasks

• Perform design, modeling, simulation, and development of power electronics, including analog/digital electronics and magnetics, for power conversion and circuit protection

• Develop technical requirements for the designs, create technical reports and presentations

• Build and measure test circuits, analyze data to improve/optimize the design in terms of performance, size, cost, manufacturability, and reliability

• Collaborate with and support mechanical, PCB layout, and firmware engineers to successfully develop and validate the designs.

Qualifications:

Basic (Required) Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering or related from an accredited institution.

-Minimum 6 years of related engineering experience in power electronics designs and product development

-Minimum of 3 years of simulation, and analysis experience with tools such as Matlab/Simulink, SPICE, and PLECS

-Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with power electronics development and testing

Preferred Qualifications:

-Thorough understanding of PCB layout and EMC/EMI design practices, voltage clearance/creepage requirements, insulation, and interconnection techniques

-Medium voltage (MV) power electronics experience

-Broad knowledge of power electronics, including various topologies, power semiconductors, and analog/digital circuits.
