Siemens Energy Industrial Communication Engineer Control & Protection HVDC in Raleigh, North Carolina

A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Communication Engineer for HVDC Systems you will work within a team of HVDC project management and engineering specialists to craft and deliver full HVDC control and protection solutions making use of a new transient network analysis laboratory located in Raleigh, NC.

You will collaborate with the Engineering Manager – HVDC C&P and will be required to provide engineering work packages in line with project and business objectives.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Provide the Project Engineering "IT NetworkCommunication" for HVDC control & protection systems (LAN/ WANCommunication, time synchronization, remote access, telecommunication).

  • Design the IT network infrastructure for control &protection equipment applied in HVDC plants to ensure reliable communicationbetween automation devices, including integration of process devices andsubsystems in the network.

  • Create and maintain project specific technicalspecifications, documents, & manuals. Clarify communication concepts withinternal departments, external suppliers, and customers.

  • Configurate communication components (router, switch,firewall, master clock, etc.) under consideration of IT security requirements.

  • System integration and commissioning of components in thetest lab (Verification of accurate communication between the variouscomponents, IT-Security, time synchronization, duplication, etc.)

  • Conduct and support Factory Acceptance Tests withsub-suppliers and customers.

  • Provide technical support during commissioning phase.

What You Bring

  • BS Degree in electrical engineering, automation technology,or network / communication technology.

  • Several years of work experience in networks for controlsystems.

  • Experience in project engineering, customer clarification,working in complex teams.

  • Understanding of SCADA systems as part of energytransmission system (Substations).

  • Theoretical know-how of TCP/IP, routing, switching,redundancy mechanisms time synchronization, etc.

  • Configuration of switches, routers, firewalls frommanufacturer CISCO, RuggedCom, Checkpoint, etc.

  • IT Security for IT networks, regulations, and hardeningmeasures to fulfill the same.

  • Network monitoring and trouble shooting.

  • Telecommunication to establish remote connection betweencontrol systems.

  • Fluent in English

  • Willingness to travel on business and abroad to deliver thesystem to the customer.

  • MUST SUBMIT ENGLISH RESUME FOR CONSIDERATION.
