UL, LLC Front End Software Engineer in Raleigh, North Carolina

Reporting to the Software Development Manager, supports the analysis, development, modification, testing and maintenance of lab automation software. Supports business leadership and senior development professionals in the analysis of software and hardware system needs, options, risks, costs, and impact on business process and goals. Evaluates supplied software features and applications against customer requests. Independently analyzes and isolates application issues and performs problem resolution.

  • Partners with internal stakeholders to understand business needs, handles the preparation of specifications, designing, wire framing, coding, testing, debugging and documenting.

  • Resolves problems by devising or modifying procedures. Considers test equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results when developing resolutions.

  • Independently analyzes and isolates application issues and performs problem resolution.

  • Monitors progress of software based projects by tracking activity, resolving problems, publishing progress reports, and recommending actions.

  • Improves systems performance by investigating problems, developing specifications, identifying trends in technology, and recommending solutions.

  • Assists with formulating and defining specifications for software programming applications and modifies existing applications.

  • This role is hybrid based out of Northbrook, IL, Chicago, IL, or Raleigh, NC

  • University degree in Computer Science and 4+ years of direct related experience.

  • JavaScript, HTML and CSS required.

  • MERN (Mongo, Express, React, Node) but emphasis on ReactJS framework

  • Wireframing/UI/UX with experience building UI components based on UX Designs, ideally Figma

  • Self-Motivated Engineer that can lead discussions with internal/external stakeholders

  • Strong communicator and experience working with cross functional groups.

  • Typescript language experience is a nice to have
