Summary :

Rex Pastoral Care Services is currently seeking a Chaplain Resident to join its esteemed CPE program and department. As a resident or fellow physician, the Chaplain Resident will provide patient care that aligns with advancement and competence. Chaplain Residents will guide patients, families, visitors, and staff spiritually.

Pastoral Care Services provides an interfaith ministry of pastoral care and support to the patients, family members, visitors, and staff of UNC REX Health. We seek to respond to the spiritual and emotional needs of persons living with the experience of illness and hospitalization while respecting their own beliefs and traditions. We believe the spiritual and emotional parts of living with illness and its meaning are vitally important for the lives and relationship of persons. Our mission is to care for the souls of patients, families, and staff of UNC REX Health.

Responsibilities :

  1. Maintains an environment of safety for patients, self and others.

  2. Provides pastoral care and counsel to patients, family members, and staff in assigned clinical areas with full consideration of patient safety needs.

  3. Participates in the ministry of the department through the overnight on-call schedule, responding pastorally and timely to all situations requiring pastoral care and support, and through leading worship services in the hospital.

  4. Participates in the clinical pastoral education training process through group and individual supervision and through the preparation of and reflection upon clinical materials.

Education Requirements:

● Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree (M. Div.) or equivalent completed or in process preferred.

● Completion of one (1) unit of CPE required.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

● No licensure or certification required.

Professional Experience Requirements:

● Ordination and ecclesiastical endorsement from denomination/faith group preferred.

● Pastoral/parish experience preferred.
