About the job:

The building automation project engineer is responsible for the planning and execution of multiple projects and resources while serving as a subject matter expert on commissioning and consulting of a building's automatic centralized control systems..

As a Building Automation Project Engineer, you will gain top notch experience supporting construction projects in a variety of environments while interfacing with top tier clients in various construction related industries. You will be leading projects to promote patient safety and ensure that people live and work in facilities that operate as they are intended. You will work with facility owners, architects, other engineers, contractors and management companies to develop innovative building automation solutions, tailored to meet the needs of the building and customer.

Responsibilities

  •  Responsible for managing, scheduling and budgeting assigned projects.

  •  Define, oversee and commission the implementation of technical complex building automation systems

  •  Provide detailed information on the design and operation to both clients and field installation team

  • Review submitted materials including Direct Digital Control (DDC) modules, field sensing and control devices to meet specifications and standards

  • Communicate staff scheduling.

  • As appropriate, provide troubleshooting and technical support on a variety of capital projects related to the construction and renovation of manufacturing and laboratory spaces, new / upgraded utility and infrastructure systems, and controls related projects.

  • Serve as an owners project manager on new construction and upgrades within the life sciences and related industries.

  • Execute and manage commissioning tasks on time and within budget

  • Maintain relations with clients on assigned projects.

  • Support the Engineering Manager in the training and mentoring of team members on proper documentation development, field procedures and equipment usage.

Requirements:

  •  Bachelors degree in mechanical/ electrical or industrial engineering with minimum 5 years of experience in engineering or construction/maintenance related experience

  •  Experience in overseeing and commissioning of automatic centralized control of a building's heating, ventilation and air conditioning, lighting and other systems

  •  At least 3 years experience working in or supporting the construction or upgrade of manufacturing or related spaces.

  • Strong knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems and other building subsystems

  • Experience in the integration of low voltage building sub-systems

  • Ability to work safely with hand and power tools and diagnostic tools such as multimeters

  • EIT or CEM certification preferred

  • Understanding of FDA regulated industries is desirable.

  • Hands-on-experience of HVAC and/or electrical systems

  • Must be physically fit and capable of lifting at least 30 pounds and climbing ladders

  • Ability to travel to and from various jobsites (within organizations multiple offices a plus! )
