CITY OF RACINE Fixed Route Bus Operator in RACINE, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Description INTRODUCTION: Providing Mobility and Independence through the provision of safe and reliable transit. POSITION PURPOSE: Provides safe, reliable, courteous transportation services to customers of the Belle Urban System. Essential Duties ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Safe operation of the bus according to established rules, practices and published schedules. Provides public information to passengers concerning routes, schedules, times and general information on how to use the Belle Urban System. Collect fares and issue transfers. Treat all customers with friendliness and consideration. Take special care to meet the needs of persons with disabilities. Announce all major stops and intersections, as required by ADA. Operate lift in accordance with proper procedures. Conform to all bulletins and special notices. Comply with current labor agreement between union and management. Take direction from supervisors and dispatchers. Complete reports and other paperwork as required. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Comply with DOT/FTA and ADA guidelines, rules and regulations. Perform safety and operational inspection of bus to ensure passenger comfort and bus reliability. Report any defects to maintenance personnel on proper forms. Maintain familiarity with routes and services of the Belle Urban System. Report to work on time and maintain good attendance record. Must be able to work irregular hours. Performance requires a normal physical ability to do some bending, light lifting and carrying. This is a safety-sensitive position, subject to random drug/alcohol testing per DOT rules and regulations. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A valid Commercial Driver\'s License (CDL) is required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate preferred.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to communicate well with the public. Good customer relations and people skills. Good driving record.
