INTERNET FIELD TECHNICIAN (INSTALLER) - Quincy/Portola

DigitalPath Inc. is currently hiring for an Internet Field Technician to service our Quincy/Portola region.

DigitalPath is the leading Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP) providing internet service to rural communities and critical fire response networks throughout California. Our mission is to bring a faster, more reliable service for customers that are typically unserved or underserviced by cable companies.

Our Internet Field Technicians are the face of the Company to our customers, servicing and installing internet in rural communities that otherwise have limited access to the online world. As an Internet Field Technician, you will work a 4x10's schedule either M-Thu or Tu-Fri with overtime opportunities during times of peak demand. When overtime is required, we aim to offer enough notification for planning. Prior cable/satellite/DSL/WISP experience will receive priority review. Experience is not required but is preferred, and training will be provided. Starting pay $25/hr.

You will be issued a truck with all tools and equipment necessary. You will typically work alone and dispatch from your home at 7am each workday, with occasional opportunities to work with other technicians on two-person jobs. This is a physical job working outdoors in cold, hot, or inclement weather. Daily work includes multiple ladder climbs and frequently working on an inclined surface at height (rooftops). Many of our customers are rural, and driving will be a significant part of this job.

The Ideal Candidate will:

  • Bring high speed internet and phone service to families and businesses in rural communities that are generally not served by mainstream internet providers.

  • Fulfill customer installations, service calls, site inspections and maintenance of Wireless Internet Service equipment.

  • Perform all aspects of wireless installation for residential and business customers, including terminating CAT6 cable, setting up small networks and mounting hardware.

A Successful Candidate will have:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, bilingual is a plus.

  • Highly organized and detail oriented.

  • Present a professional appearance, a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

  • Proven ability to adhere to all safety standards and promote a safe working environment.

  • Solid computer skills with Office 365 and stand-alone applications such as Excel, Word, and Teams.

  • Ability to use good judgement in solving problems and make sound decisions.

  • A strong driving record. 100% no-incident record is preferred, though we will consider you if there is only 1 point and no DUI's on record.

  • Able to operate a vehicle with a manual transmission is a plus.

  • 21 years of age or older (Since you'll be driving in extreme weather, our auto insurance requires this).

  • To comply with safety and equipment requirements, body weight cannot exceed 250 Ibs.

  • Must be comfortable working at heights, able and willing to climb up to 300 ft. with fall protection. (NO FEAR OF HEIGHTS)

  • Ability to work overtime as necessary.

  • Ability to work out of town as necessary (rare, but typically no more than 3-4 nights per month)

Physical requirements:

  • This position offers an alternative work week schedule with 4 days a week at 10 hours a day.

  • Requires travel to worksite locations using a company vehicle with either an automatic transmission or possible manual transmission.

  • Requires sufficient strength and coordination for lifting, pushing, pulling and/or carrying up to 55 lbs.

  • Must be able to stand, walk, move, climb, carry, bend, twist, kneel, reach, push and pull as part of the job.

  • Ability to bend, stoop and kneel for 25 to 35 minutes at a time.

  • Must be able to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.

  • Specific vision requirements for this job include close, distant, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

  • PPE required for some tasks.

  • A post-offer pre-employment background check, driving record review, and arduous physical with drug/alcohol screening will be performed.

Benefits and Compensation information

We typically hire at $25 with a skills-based assessment within the first 3-6 months. Starting compensation range is $23.00 to $27.00 per hour for a new technician. Hiring pay above $25/hr. may require qualification with additional skills evaluations.
