Position Overview

Serve as technical support and project engineer for capital projects designed to make capital improvements in all the NAC Mexico plants to meet the NOM-01-SEMARNAT-2021. Also, supports NAC and corporate EHS support staff, as well as corporate wastewater SME on other environmental projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation and oversight of technical studies, submittals, plans, and general design for NAC Mexico sites to meet NOM-01-SEMARNAT-2021.

  • Ensure engineering activities comply with IP’s contract requirements and support overall project schedule.

  • Ensure project applies IP’s policies related cost, budget, and cost-effective design.

  • Support the preparation and submittal of documentation necessary for the IP Project Delivery Process and regulatory permitting.

  • Oversee preparation of engineering calculations and estimates pertaining to respective project.

  • Coordination of services during construction including attending progress meetings, supervising review of shop drawings, issuing RFI responses and investigating field changes.

  • Direct day-to-day project management activity on design and planning projects as assigned.

  • Develop, implement, and administer project engineering procedures and other work controlling documents.

  • Assist in the proposal process for contracts, including estimates and project scope.

  • Oversee, review, revise and certify specifications and drawings.

  • Develop and maintain a detailed project timeline.

  • Communicate to management the progress of the project, constrains found, and mitigations required to ensure no delays.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understand water and sewer analysis reports.

  • General knowledge of box manufacturing process.

  • Good working knowledge of CAD software, Civil 3D, and Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, and Project).

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in written and oral communications.

  • Must be able to read and comprehend detailed correspondence and reports.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in appropriate engineering discipline. Minimum four (4) years of experience in engineering and/or related project management. Experience with wastewater treatment systems engineering preferred.

Main Technical Onboarding Activities

  • Understand all the plant and corporate key players (network)

  • Visit one or two plants to familiarize with technical aspects

  • Meet with Deni Urritia and Manuel Sibaja to discuss project

  • Review all existing proposals to upgrade WWTS

  • Understand existing conditions of current wastewater treatment systems

  • Review all the results of analyses completed so far

Possible Initial Objectives

  • Develop initial Gantt with main project activities

  • Prepared more detailed budgets for each facility

  • Initiate discussions with identified vendors

  • Develop more detail drawing of recommended upgrades

  • Complete FEL0 for projects to be started in 2025
