    Position Summary

    Reporting to the Research and Development Manager, the NPD/R&D Engineer is responsible for NPD/R&D objectives through ownership of research, product development and validation activities from concept through transfer to production, while maintaining compliance with procedures and quality systems.

    How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Develop and execute project management objectives, meeting timeline commitments and balancing multiple priorities,

  • Support R&D objectives by creating test plans, performing R&D testing, characterization, and reporting,

  • Use engineering tools such as root cause analysis, DOE, & statistical analysis to aid in R&D testing and characterization,

  • Provide recommendations to managers for project next steps based on data and reports,

  • Point of contact between customers and Praxis throughout the product development cycle,

  • Interface with customers for design changes required for MIM,

  • Interface with mold vendors for mold procurement and suppliers for secondary operations,

  • Interaction with internal cross-functional groups,

  • Lead product specific material and equipment procurement and validation initiatives,

  • Oversee execution of product specific engineering studies, experiments, and process development,

  • Provide customer ready technical reports and timeline updates, as required,

  • Lead and oversee all validation/verification activities (i.e. validation plans & report, control plans, IQ/OQ/PQ),

  • Support product launch in any/all capacities required,

  • Responsible to train new operators on new processes and changes to processes for new Ti products,

  • Develop metrology methods for measurement of components, develop visual inspections and perform gage R&R and data analysis,

  • Maintain compliance with Praxis’ Quality Management System,

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA guidelines and applying best practices for on-the-job safety in a production environment,

  • Adhere to quality assurance procedures and processes while maintaining an orderly production facility.

    What You Must Bring to This Role

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience,

  • Minimum of 4 years working the field of product development,

  • Project management skills are required,

  • Metrology experience and the application of statistics is required,

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate both verbally, through email, and formal written reports,

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to resolve technical issues,

  • Proven history working in SolidWorks, Microsoft Office, including Excel,

  • Experience in medical device development a plus,

  • Experience in six sigma, design of experiments, and operational excellence a plus,

  • Proven attention to detail and focus in an active environment with the ability to complete tasks, and to work

    independently and proactively,

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to build personal and team-based relationships with all levels of associates,

  • Proven ability to calmly transition between multiple, and changing priorities,

  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills,

  • Proven experience in working in the medical device, aerospace, manufacturing, or related industry,

  • Experience in production operations, safety and security protocols,

    Working Conditions & Physical Efforts

  • Work is performed in a production environment

  • May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to stand or sit for a prolonged period of time

  • Visual functions being those of near vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with leadership & clients

  • Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or operate equipment

  • Low exposure to physical risk
