Job Brief

Responsible for assisting the Residential Coordinator in the care, safety and well-being of persons receiving services living in assigned residences.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Assists in setting performance standards and providing the support and training necessary for direct care staff to achieve standards. Assists in the evaluation of direct care staff's performance and provides feedback, guidance and/or discipline, as appropriate. Assists the Program Coordinator in the development, implementation and monitoring of each program plan and for ensuring that all persons receiving services are afforded opportunities and for activities that promote individualization, independence, inclusion and, productivity.

POSITION DUTIES:

  • Responsible for the direct supervision of all evening Direct Care shift and all evening routines for assigned residences.

  • Interviews, hires, evaluates, supervises and disciplines evening shift Direct Care staff in assigned residences. Generates guidance's and commendations as necessary. Conducts individual face-to-face meetings with evening shift staff and documents such.

  • Ensures adequate staffing for the night shift as needed in conjunction with Deployment Supervisor(s).

  • Communicates with the Medical Case Manager Counselor daily to ensure that adequate staffing has been secured for the following day’s clinics.

  • Provides initial orientation to all new direct care personnel on the evening shift and will conduct ongoing training sessions and monitoring of the implementation of all program plans.

  • Attends all cluster meetings as scheduled and provide routine training sessions in the area of programming.

  • Works closely with the Program Coordinator to ensure appropriate activities are planned and implemented. Ensures that all direct care personnel complete the daily community inclusion logs.

  • Reviews personal and Agency funds ledgers as assigned.

  • Participates in conferences for the people receiving services conducted on the evening shift.

  • Ensures all necessary programmatic supplies are ordered and maintained and that all special equipment is utilized as needed.

  • Routinely observes the dinner meal nightly and provide training as needed to all staff.

  • Ensures that the evening shift fire drills are completed and documented as required and reports any concerns to Residential Coordinator.

  • Reviews personal and Agency funds ledgers in assigned residences.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services field and a minimum of one (1) year experience working with developmentally disabled individuals for in-house incumbents, Bachelor’s degree may be waived and replaced by five (5) years experience working with the developmentally disabled within the Agency.

  • Minimum one (1) year supervisory experience required.

  • Knowledge of HCBS Waiver IRA and ICF regulations.

  • Must be able to work a 2pm-10pm shift daily and work flexible hours as needed, be on-call, and be able to provide weekend coverage as scheduled.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Applications.

  • Performs all job responsibilities in full compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Adheres to the agency’s corporate compliance program, including the code of business conduct, the NYS and federal false claims acts, whistleblower protections and mandatory reporting. Completes corporate compliance training at least annually. Fully cooperates in all corporate compliance investigations and reviews.
