Job Summary

Responsible for performing Lead Floor Care Specialist duties, minor maintenance, and other miscellaneous duties to ensure that the floors are maintained in a healthy, safe, and sanitary manner. The majority of the daily activities will be hands-on working.

Primary Duties

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. These duties and responsibilities will be rated on the Annual Performance Review.

  • Perform direct floor cleaning and care duties as directed by the Floor Care Supervisor, and provide general direction to 1 Floor Care Janitor supporting in floor care duties (if and as needed).

  • Prepare, setup and safely execute coordination of floor care activities to ensure minimal impact to foot traffic and flow.

  • Responsible for meeting the floor buffing, strip/wax, restoration and other floor care scheduling requirements set forth by the Floor Care Supervisor, and actively performing floor care duties directly.

  • Operate burnishers, scrubbers, polishers, shampooers and other types of floor care machinery as needed to meet the Floor Care Supervisors expectations and floor quality standards.

  • Support and perform minor upkeep and maintenance of all floor care equipment.

    Additional Responsibilities

  • Coordinate work schedules to ensure timely and effective completion of the maintenance and care of the buildings and offices.

  • Responsible for availability to work evenings and weekends outside of normal work hours if and as needed, upon sufficient notice from the Floor Care Supervisor.

  • Responsible for the security of designated locations.

  • Open, close, lock, and unlock facilities as needed.

  • Keep records of work completed.

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

    Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s )

  • Must be able to pass and maintain a Tier 5 FBI Security Clearance.

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) preferred.

  • Two (2) or more years of janitorial experience required.

  • Three (3) or more years of floor care experience required.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products and equipment.

  • Knowledge of the use of Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).

  • Ability to read and understand labels and instructions, particularly on the use and application of chemicals and products.

  • Strong commitment to high level of service and quality standards.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to coach, motivate, develop and lead teams.

  • Ability to plan and organize.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to build rapport and teams to achieve a common purpose.

  • Ability to think objectively and solve problems.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The incumbent works on a daily basis with dangerous and toxic cleaning product that can be very harmful to ones health if not properly utilized. The incumbent also regularly cleans up blood, saliva and other bodily fluids that are unpleasant to deal with. The condition of washrooms is often unpleasant.
