Summary Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team! MCCS is a comprehensive program that supports and enhances the quality of life for Marines, their families, and others in the Marine Corps Community. We offer a team oriented environment comprised of military personnel, civilian employees, contractors and volunteers who keep the organization functioning smoothly and effectively. Responsibilities This position is located in Physical Fitness, Semper Fit Branch, Marine Corps Community Services Division, Marine Corps Base, Quantico, Virginia. The incumbent develops and implements personalized fitness programs for active duty, retired Marines, family members and Department of Defense (DOD) civilians on Base. Performs diagnostic evaluations to determine level of physical condition. This includes measuring aerobic capacity, body fat, strength, and flexibility and doing a cardiac risk profile. Counsel individuals and groups on proper nutrition and conditioning and training programs, and produces written plans. Instructs individuals and groups in aerobic, water exercise and the use of fitness equipment. Assists in conducting various special events, including races and fitness fairs. Ensures all regulations and safety procedures are observed in the fitness centers. Ensures fitness equipment is working properly and is safe to use. Assists in maintaining the cleanliness of the equipment and facility. Collects patron data for routine reports. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. The incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance. This position is emergency essential. May be required to work when the rest of the Base is closed. Requirements Conditions of Employment See Duties and Qualifications EVALUATIONS: Qualifications Three years of experience in physical fitness instruction and leadership which demonstrates the following: Knowledge of fitness principles, methods and techniques of instruction; ability to develop and implement a fitness program which meets the needs of the community; ability to evaluate the individual needs of patrons and suggest appropriate programs to fit their needs; ability to motivate and counsel patrons and recommend behavior changes to improve overall health and fitness levels; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to work compatibly with patrons, co-workers, peer professionals and supervisors; knowledge of fitness center equipment and Fitness Instructor/Trainer certification from ACSM, ACE, NSCA, CIAR, or AF AA is required as well as CPR and First Aid certification. Or, A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science or related field, CPR and First Aid Certification, and the ability to obtain Fitness Instructor/Trainer certification within 1 year. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for the qualifications above.
