Copeland Test Engineer in PUNE, India

POSITION OBJECTIVE / DUTIES:

This position is responsible for the Applied Mechanics Lab (AML) at Copeland by providing test planning, test fixture design, test execution / supervision, data analysis and technical report writing.

The position strives to keep the Applied Mechanics Lab for current activities with known engineering knowledge in the area of fatigue, fracture, vibration, instrumentation & reliability of compressor components.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. To provide Component Testing services to product engineering by executing tests in a complete, accurate and timely manner. These tests may include test planning, engineering analysis, design of test fixtures, test execution / supervision, instrumentation, strain gauging, Data Acquisition and data analysis, Technical reports.

  2. Basic understanding of vibrations, material behavior, fatigue/life prediction, failure analysis, to operate Vibration shakers, MTS hydraulic machines, Compressor test stands to conduct accelerated life testing.

  3. Plan, execute and coordinate for calibration and maintenance for various test machines. Ensuring lab Safety & Security policies

  4. Interactions with engineering, prepare reports in a timely manner that summarize project, draw conclusions, and make recommendations derived from engineering analysis of the work in a clear, concise and accurate manner.

  5. Knowledge about Air conditioning and refrigeration compressor’s reliability and system reliability

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

Bachelor of engineering in Mechanical / Instrumentation, or closely related field required plus a minimum of 4-8 years related experience.

PREFERRED EDUCATION:

Master’s in Mechanical / Instrumentation or closely related field with 2-6 years related experience.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Sound theoretical knowledge of Strength of Materials.

  • Hands on instrumentation, strain gauging, Data Acquisition and data analysis Must have theoretical and/or experimental knowledge in either vibration or fatigue areas.

  • Have Strong interpersonal skills and be fluent in written and verbal English language.

GOOD TO HAVE:

  • Knowledge in Statistics, Reliability engineering; experience in Minitab, nCode, Weibull+ etc.

  • Knowledge / experience in HVAC / refrigeration compressor field

  • Have working experience in machine design – NX or equivalent.

  • Can conduct basic FEA on fixtures and components.

  • Good knowledge in using Office 365
