Job title:

Systems Lead- Plastic

You are responsible for

Lead the design and development of plastic components and products to align with project objectives. Possess the capability to review and create detailed mechanical drawings incorporating GD&T, specifications, and 3D models using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) and other relevant tools. Collaborate with suppliers to review tool designs and implement necessary changes. Qualify plastic tools/molds at supplier locations. Collaborate with material suppliers, manufacturers, and vendors to select suitable plastic materials and manufacturing methods based on project requirements and constraints. Conduct site visits, inspections, and quality control checks to monitor construction progress and ensure compliance with design specifications and standards. Lead or participate in design reviews, brainstorming sessions, and cross-functional team meetings to refine concepts, troubleshoot issues, and foster innovation. Lead prototype fabrication, testing, and validation activities, iterating designs as needed to achieve desired performance and functionality. Understand regulatory requirements, design assembly/sub-assembly, and develop V&V plans and protocols. Participate in meetings, workshops, and presentations to effectively communicate design concepts, project milestones, and technical information. Implement scientific injection molding at supplier sites. Provide guidance and mentorship to designers and engineers on technical reviews, DFMEA, and DFA/DFM.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Plastics Engineering, Tooling, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent.

Over 15 years of extensive industry experience.

Specialized expertise in Plastic Tooling, encompassing material selection, design, and the manufacturing process, including Injection Molding, Extrusion, and more.

Profound knowledge of plastic materials, their properties, and behavior under diverse conditions such as temperature and stress.

Proven track record in plastic injection molding, extrusion, thermoforming, and related manufacturing processes.

Demonstrated success in end-to-end product development, spanning from systems to sub-systems.

Proven ability to collaborate with suppliers and troubleshoot plastics processing challenges.

Broad technical acumen and experience in bringing medical products to market, with a preference for familiarity with medical product development standards such as IEC 60601 and healthcare regulatory aspects like ISO13485 and FDA regulations.

Team-oriented mindset with a collaborative approach to problem-solving and project execution.

Skill in translating customer needs into technical requirements and clearly defining complete mechatronic needs to project members.

Mature skills in prioritization, requirement clarification, and estimation of development efforts.

Demonstrated leadership prowess, including leading engineering teams, breaking down work, delegating tasks, and conducting final reviews. Strong work ethic with a commitment to quality, Lean principles, and business efficiency.

Experience in Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) and Six Sigma projects is advantageous.

Attention to detail and a steadfast commitment to delivering high-quality work.
