Overview

Database Engineering manages our databases with a goal to deliver secure, scalable, resilient infrastructure and software deployment capability for global solutions.

The team assesses internal controls to proactively identify risks, define remediation actions and track remediation actions. We are looking for someone to join our team and help us meet these compliance goals while providing a robust, scalable, and high-performance production database environment.

Role

The ideal candidate has a deep and broad understanding of database administration with the ability to think and act strategically and tactically ensuring that the corporation remains compliant with required security, technology and financial standards as well as industry best practices.

The individual will build a strong partnership with management and may manage operational and/or strategic initiatives or support for the team. The Lead Database Engineer champions the Mastercard Way.

You will work with system engineers, database developers and other database administrators, auditors, risk and regulatory professionals.

About you

• Demonstrate ability to operate with independence and autonomy.

• Desired knowledge of Database Technologies Include (not limited to): PostgreSQL, Oracle, Cassandra, Elastic Search, Redis, MongoDB, SQL Server, Oracle Exadata Administration, DB2. The ideal candidate should have experience in both RDBMS, NoSQL and cloud database technologies.

• Advanced hands-on experience in configuring, patching, upgrading, and optimizing database software and related products.

• Advanced experience in security, backup/recovery, architecture, networking, and administration for database discipline.

• Proven track record in working with technology teams for the development, maintenance, testing, implementation, and support of database technologies and associated software products.

• Experience with control frameworks (e.g., PCI, SOC1, SOC2, ISAE3402/3000, ISO27001, GDPR)

• Monitor execution of control self-assessments to assess potential risks or control gaps.

• Engage with internal and external auditors to ensure assurance obligation objectives are met and risk is managed effectively.

• Conduct risk and impact assessments from a control’s perspective on internal and external findings.

• Monitor completion of remediation actions for internal and external findings to ensure proper resolution.

• Develop and maintain reports, metrics and presentations of progress and results for meetings with leadership, customers and/or regulators.

• Develop and manage risk processes including identifying and implementing best practices and ensuring all processes, policies and standards are documented reviewed and updated regularly.
