The Opportunity:

 

The Department of Digital Technology and Culture is seeking candidates to serve in the role as the Administrative Assistant. Depending on your level of experience and education, the position will start at either an Administrative Assistant 1 or an Administrative Assistant 2.

 

Summary of Duties:

 

You will perform complex administrative duties in support of the Department of Digital Technology and Culture. You will serve as the first point of contact for the unit in the office on the Pullman campus and collaborate frequently with diverse faculty, staff, students, administrators, facilities, and the finance/budget team. Your duties include maintaining departmental emails, maintaining department calendars, assisting with course scheduling, purchasing, event coordination, updating the department website and social media accounts, and maintaining department records according to university policies. You will assist the Chair in compiling necessary documents for annual review, tenure review, third-year review and promotion. You will also provide support the department advisor with administrative tasks such as enrolling students in courses, enrolling students in department minors and certificates, and other related work.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

Administrative Assistant 1 (AA1):

 

A Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration or closely allied field. Clerical or office work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis, provided at least one year included experience at the Clerk 3 level or above.

 

Administrative Assistant 2 (AA2):

 

One year of experience as an Administrative Assistant 1 OR a Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or closely allied field and two years of responsible office experience at the senior clerical level or higher. Clerical or office work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. Graduate study may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.

 

For all applications:

 

• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

 

• Experience with WordPress, Workday, OBIEE, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Adobe Creative Cloud, and/or Zoom.

 

• Ability to multitask and learn and adapt quickly.

 

• Strong written and oral communication skills.

 

• Demonstrated experience effectively handling confidential and sensitive information.

 

• Experience working with diverse groups of people.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Experience providing administrative oversight and assistance to a senior administrator preferably in a higher education environment.

 

• Knowledge of Washington State University including experience with university policies and procedures.

 

• Professional working experience in higher education.
