Description

The ConnextCare Dental department has recently created a Dental career ladder. This career path starts as a Dental Support Assistant- learning to clean and prepare treatment rooms, sterilization and infection control management, and rooming of patients. Once all aspects of this position have been mastered and the individual has been employed within the role for a minimum of one year the Dental Support Assistant is eligible to apply for a Dental Assistant position within the department. On the job training will then be provided to teach all aspects of Dental Assisting.

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. To clean, sterilize and set up instruments for dental procedures

  2. To prepare the examination room for patients, cleaning and setting up as necessary between each patient encounter

  3. To perform routine maintenance on dental equipment, including but not limited to autoclave, developer, etc.

  4. Take preliminary medical histories and vital signs to be reviewed by the dentist

  5. To participate in in-service workshops, and quality assurance activities as may be required by the department

  6. To work closely with the dentist and dental staff in improving productivity and efficiency

  7. Assist with and promote all processes associated with the Coleman initiative

  8. Promoting Patient Centered Medical Home initiatives

  9. Other duties and responsibilities as requested by the supervisor

Requirements

Knowledge/Education Requirements:

A. High school graduate (or equivalent) and minimum of two full years work experience

B. Demonstrate proper judgment and decision making skills when necessary

C. Comply with the organizations code of conduct, safety rules and adheres to all company policies

D. Carry out job responsibilities in an ethical, effective and professional manner

E. Must be willing and demonstrate the ability to cooperate, work, and communicate with coworkers and supervisors

F. Must demonstrate computer proficiency with Microsoft Suite and electronic medical record system

G. Must possess a willingness to accept direction from providers and supervisors; must possess the ability to work well and with compassion in stressful situations; must maintain a professional and courteous demeanor with both patients and co-workers

H. Must be keenly aware of the importance of confidentiality in all aspects of the position

Salary Description

$15.25-$17.75 Depending on Experience
