Electro-Mechanical Technician

POSITION OBJECTIVE: To install, repair, and maintain production equipment, buildings, and facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS: -Preferably high school diploma or equivalent experience. Also able to pass competency tests applicable for this position. -Electro mechanic techs are selected on the basis of their technical training, past performance and indicated characteristics of leadership and responsibilities. -Complete electrical & mechanical experience, capable of reading and making complex mechanical drawings & wiring diagrams. Thorough knowledge of electrical codes and shop math. -5+ years experience in maintenance repairs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Descriptions of duties, physical, and visual requirements. A. Tasks and Duties: 1. Maintain work area to THM standards. 2. Works under the direction of the Maintenance Superintendent. 3. Installs, operates, maintains, tests, and locates both mechanical and electrical trouble on all plant buildings and equipment. 4. Advises Maintenance Superintendent of maintenance problems and recommends action. 5. Thorough knowledge of mechanical and electrical drawings. 6. Makes complex wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and sketches. 7. Reads and makes proper electrical installation from blue prints and wiring diagrams. 8. Possesses and uses knowledge of Plant Electrical Distribution system and power requirements. 9. Starts, stops, maintains, and helps install plant utilities and production equipment. 10. Possesses a working knowledge of the following equipment: a. Arc and gas welding equipment. b. Power tools such as the drill press, lathe, horizontal milling machine, Bridgeport, cut-off saw, and portable power tools. c. Hand tools and testing equipment of both electrical and mechanical trades. d. Hoisting equipment. 11. Makes use of all types of electrical testing equipment commonly used in an industrial plant, such as ammeters, voltmeters, megometer, and oscilloscopes. 12. Thorough knowledge of electrical codes. 13. Thorough knowledge of programmable controllers and personal computers and support equipment for both. 14. Possesses the necessary tools of the trade. 15. Works directly under and assists the Maintenance Superintendent when required. 16. Performs miscellaneous jobs as directed. 17. Operates forklifts as necessary. 18. Maintains forklift certification.

B. Physical/Visual Activities Required: 1. Have adequate sight, hearing, and use of limbs to safely operate all powered vehicles. I.E. forklifts and sweepers. 2. Sight capabilities to distinguish proper products identification as well as warning and operational indicators. 3. Hearing capabilities to distinguish differences in warning alarm indicators and standard operation indicators. 4. Sight capabilities to identify accuracy and neatness of required job assignments. 5. Stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling capabilities to handle job requirements such as operating, cleaning, or packaging equipment and produc 6. Balancing to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching in all areas dues to possible limited direct supervision and/or observation. 7. Ability to verbally communicate either face to face or via telephone with other fellow employees to accomplish all assigned job requirements. 8. Hear and understand verbal communication whether it be face to face or via telephone. 9. See and understand written communication. 10. Walking through, under and around equipment with clearance of 30". 11. Ability to use caution when lifting or handling objects or equipment to remain within the recommended weight limit of 50 pounds, and get assistance if material is over 50 pounds. 12. Activates and uses telephones and calculators as required in assigned job requirements. 13. Ability to feel objects, textures, size, and shape and to determine temperatures by touching of skin, primarily by that of finger tips. 14. Ability to grasp tools (manual as well and powered) and use them in accordance with a safe working manner so as not to injure oneself or fellow employees. I.E. power saws, drills, hammers, presses, latches, etc.

C. Work Environment Conditions: 1. Inside and outside environments apply. 2. Subject to extreme cold, temperatures below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour. 3. Subject to extreme heat, temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour. 4. Subject to noise, causing reason to shout in order to be heard above the noise level. 5. Subject to vibration, exposure fluctuating movements of the body. 6. Subjects to hazards such as moving machinery, electrical currents, falling debris, exposure to chemicals, gasses, high heat, or explosives. 7. Subject to unregulated atmospheric conditions caused by odors, fumes, gases, poor ventilation, and dusts. Subject to oils and other cutting fluids.

Salary Range: $46,489 - $77,481 Annual
