CITY OF PUEBLO Outdoor Recreation Administrator in Pueblo, Colorado

POSITION: Outdoor Recreation Administrator

DUTIES: * Participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for assigned programs; recommend and administer policies and procedures; and inventory of existing outdoor recreation assets and program venues. * Develop, implement, and evaluate new outdoor recreation programs, activities, services, and special events for various ages. * Collect data and generate a report that demonstrates measurable revenue to the City such as, but not limited to, new taxes, activity fees, venue rentals, licenses, permits, grants, and sponsorships. * With assistance of the Program Coordinator - Marketing, develop marketing materials for outdoor recreation programs and events; oversee and participate in various marketing and promotional activities for assigned program area; recognize OEDIT and/or OREC as the sponsor in all press releases and media generated from OEDIT grant; assure that all public facing marketing information comply with the City of Pueblo and the Pueblo Parks & Recreation Department brand * Monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; recommends within departmental policy, and appropriate service. Keep accurate documentation for all time spent in Outdoor Recreation Administrator duties in accordance with the OEDIT grant requirements. * Creates other associated reports, including budget reports, attendance / participation reports, program reports, and close-out reports for program are * Recruits and trains outdoor recreation program and event volunteers. * Participates in the development of appropriate fees and charges for participation in program area. * Attends and participates in professional group meetings; stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of outdoor recreation administration. * Frequent lifting items weighing up to 50 lbs. * Effectively pushing or pulling items that weigh up to 100 lbs. * Sitting, moving about, standing, kneeling, and bending to retrieve files, equipment, and materials. * Responding to telephone and in person requests from citizens and employees as well hearing * Handling, seizing, holding, grasping, or otherwise working with hands. * Highly developed oral and written communication skills that include the demonstrated ability to edit and write.

REQUIREMENTS: * A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university and a minimum of three (3) years of experience working in outdoor recreation, adventure/expedition programs, and/or another related field (a combination of related experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year for year basis). * Minimum of two (2) years of responsible management experience in outdoor recreation, adventure/expedition programs, and/or another related field. * A valid driver's license at the time of application, and a valid Colorado driver's license within 30 days of employment * License restrictions that may hinder your ability to drive on City business, such as an interlock, will be cause for disqualification * During the course of employment, a valid license must be maintained, and the employee must notify the City immediately upon changes to the status of their license

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: * Due to Federal and State Criminal Justice System access requirements, classifications that access and maintain criminal justice information may also be required, as a condition of employment, to not have been convicted of and/or have pending charges of a felony or misdemeanor crime that would deny or otherwise restrict access to criminal justice information. This requirement applies to all existing City employees as well as external candidates seeking to fill positions that meet the given criteria.

PREFERRED SKILLS: * Outdoor Recreation programming, volunteer recruitment, and training. * Prin iples of lead supervision and training. * Revenue, expense, and cost-recovery budget development and management principles. * Methods and techniques of eliciting community and agency funding support for programs and events. * Principles and practices of business correspondence and report preparation. * Methods and techniques of customer service. * Record keeping and data collection methods and procedures. * Recent developments, current literature and information related to program area. * Marketing theories, principles and practices and their application to program administration. * Word processing and spreadsheet applications. * Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations.

WAGE: $66,907.92 - $81,692.88

SHIFTS: *40 hours/week * Full Time and hours vary.
