summary of position

The welder is responsible for fabricating welded tanks, bases and subassemblies to be incorporated into commercial/industrial refrigeration & HVAC equipment.

Essential functions

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable Accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.

Read and understand engineering drawings and instructions.

Read and understand bills of material.

Distinguish between sizes and types of steel.

Weld galvanized steel, stainless steel, carbon and fabricated sheet metal parts.

Sandblast structural welded assemblies.

Weld, use a cutting torch, plasma arc and bandsaws.

Check work and ensure quality.

Contribute to team effort by working with others and accomplishing related functions as needed.

Complete any task as assigned by supervisor as needed.

Comply with government regulations, laws, company policies and company procedures.

Work overtime as necessary.

Attend work as required.

Arrive for work on time.

Charge time accurately in time and attendance system on computer to ensure accurate labor distribution and payroll.

Follow manufacturing instructions, work by oneself without constant supervision, be self-motivated and complete job assignments on time.

Care for tools and equipment. Advise maintenance of equipment that is not working properly.

Clean work area as required.

Desired qualifications

Education & Experience: A high school level of education is preferred for this position in order to continue upward advancement in the company. The employee must be able to understand directions from superiors. Previous welding experience required.

Skills: Effective communications skills, good listening skills, ability to read and comprehend drawings and written instructions, basic mathematical skills, including ability to read tape measure down to 1/16 of an inch, ability to control operations of equipment or system, monitoring/assessing performance of yourself, other individuals or organization to make improvements or take corrective action, good people skills in order to work in teams with others in the organization. Ability to weld.

Certificates, licenses or training: on-site training; must pass structural weld test.

2 Proficient level welder meets quality standards, able to complete work within estimated hours for job

3 Proficient level welder meets quality standards, able to complete work in less time than estimated for job
