A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THIS ROLE: In accordance with established policies and procedures, will perform a variety of technical radiologic procedures including General Radiology, Mammography, and Bone Density examinations, using standard, portable and/or specialized x-ray equipment to apply prescribed ionizing radiation in order to assist Outer Cape Health Care?s (?OCHS?s) interdisciplinary care team in the diagnosis and treatment of patient illnesses and injuries. The incumbent will assume responsibility for each assigned patient, of all age ranges, and will perform patient assessments, and correlate clinical findings with exam/procedure requests according to radiologist and ordering provider specifications. SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Performs General Radiology, Mammography, and Bone Density examinations Assumes lead technologist duties in absence of Radiology Supervisor Produces the highest quality radiographs with the lowest practical dose of radiation in accordance with procedure ordered Properly utilizes OCHS computer systems for Radiology, including PACS/RIS, EMR and modality work stations Performs quality checks on equipment in accordance with department?s procedures, and takes appropriate action to expedite necessary service repair Assists Radiology Coordinator with tasks such as retrieving previous exams, answering phones, relaying messages, and scheduling, as needed Prepares examination area by ensuring cleanliness, replenishing supplies needed, ensuring proper identification of the patient, escorts patient to the exam room, explaining examination to the patient answering any questions Assists and monitors patient throughout the exam to assure patient safety WORK ENVIRONMENT: The functions of this role are conducted in a clinical environment WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU: Associates? degree in Science, or equivalent post-secondary education Graduate of an accredited diagnostic radiography program A.R.R.T. registered and State licensed in radiography and mammography 2 years? of clinical internship and 2 years? of post-educational experience as a radiologic technologist 1 year experience in mammography Bone Density certification preferred ASRT membership preferred
