Charter Care Health Partners Supervisor, Supply Chain in Providence, Rhode Island

Summary: Responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling material resources to support quality service to customers; as defined as any member of our hospital employees, community, and all partners, most importantly including our patients. Position is responsible for supervising staff and assisting distribution team along with the business functions of all areas of Supply Chain Department. This includes inventory procurement and control, charging and billing analysis, and coordination of the materials' management system throughout the hospital with regards the shipping & receiving, storage, distribution, and disposal of materials, goods and services. Partners with the buying and distribution team to maintain accurate data integrity and system requirements. This position also leads key initiatives: Kanban, scanning, and PAR level management for the system. This position supervises the material handlers mainly at Fatima Hospital and also help with distribution tech(s) RWH including day to day management of distribution and receiving. Supervisor will manage both hospitals distribution teams in the absence of the supply chain manager. Rounds the building daily, ensures staff is adequately stocking supplies at the hospital and ensures customer service for the nursing staff for supplies. Manages overall performance of material handlers which includes rotating product limiting expiration, managing receipt accuracy, organized store room, dock, and supply closets, stocking to PAR levels, and adhering to joint commission requirements.

Education: High school diploma or GED required

Experience: Prior management/supervising experience 1-3 years. 2-6 years’ experience in a hospital setting or relevant supply chain experience or a 2-4 year college degree. Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles. Advanced system skills such as excel or the buying/PAR inventory system. Two years progressively more responsible related experience with demonstrated abilities in management in the health care field. Knowledge of JCAHO and state regulations for both acute and skilled nursing facilities.

Knowledge of managing a union healthcare staff in material management.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Familiar with acceptable supply chain and buying procedures.

  • Familiar with material handling, incoming, and outgoing in a supply chain setting.

  • Intermediary excel, Microsoft office, and system skills.

  • Knowledge and ability of Meditech or equivalent buying system.

  • Ability to utilize sound interpersonal skills, communication, and analytical skills.

  • Minimal supervisions with motivation and self-direction to attain daily/annual tactical and strategic goals

    Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements : Stands, sits, walks, stoops, climbs, and lifts 50 pounds and pushes supply carts on an occasional to regular basis throughout the work day. Verbal, visual and listening skills and ability required. Potential for exposure to hazardous material, sharp instruments, noise intimately. May be exposed to infection. Frequently exposed to a highly pressured and rapidly changing environment. Meets all safety requirements associated with the Medical Center.
