Job Information

Intel Senior Neuromorphic Processor Validation Engineer in Providence, Rhode Island

Job Description

Neuromorphic computing takes inspiration from biological systems to realize vastly more efficient and adaptable AI than what is possible with today's conventional computing architectures. At the hardware level, gains are achieved by applying neuro-inspired principles such as asynchronous event-based operation, integration of memory and compute, and massive parallelism. Intel's Loihi series of neuromorphic processors have advanced the frontier of application research with over 100 peer-reviewed publications from a Loihi developer community comprising over 250 research groups worldwide. These results confirm the promise of the technology to bring breakthroughs in energy efficiency and performance to AI tasks spanning perception, planning, learning, and control from the edge to the data center.

As a Senior Neuromorphic Processor Validation Engineer, your primary responsibilities include:

  • Perform functional validation of Intel’s next-generation neuromorphic cores, chiplets, and IP from architecture modeling through post-silicon stages.

  • Develop validation methodologies, document test plans, write tests, and run simulations to ensure functional correctness and verify power and performance targets.

  • Collaborate with a small, elite team of design, verification, and EDA engineers who contribute across all levels of silicon engineering and have advanced the forefront of asynchronous and neuromorphic design for many years.

  • Work with a broader interdisciplinary team, including system and software architects, AI framework developers, application engineers, and algorithms researchers, to advance Intel’s neuromorphic technology from the lab to a wide range of commercial products.

  • Rapidly learn new design skills and computing concepts due to the novel properties of neuromorphic computing. An eagerness to learn and a passion for innovation are essential for success in this role.
