Brown University Parent Giving and Engagement Officer in Providence, Rhode Island

Job Description:

The Parent Giving and Engagement Officer is an integral member of the Parent and Family Giving team, which develops programming, events, volunteer opportunities, and communications to maximize the engagement and philanthropy of Brown’s parent community, with a particular focus on non-alumni parents.

This individual is responsible for the strategy, development and execution of engagement events for the philanthropic parent community. This individual will also be responsible for coordination of the Parents Executive Committee and the Parents Leadership Council. Additionally, this role will provide an advanced level of direct administrative support to the senior director. The position will assist in advancing cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship goals of the director for major and principal-level families.

This position requires a personable, energetic individual who is eager to contribute through excellent interpersonal communication, written communication, and project management skills.

Job Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a related field such as fundraising, education, non-profits, and/or marketing.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Strong project/time management skills are essential.

  • Excellent planning, organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills. Must be detail-oriented, creative, and able to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency with database, spreadsheet, and word processing applications including Google Suite, Microsoft Word, and Excel, along with demonstrated comfort in dealing with calendar programs, social media, and emerging technologies

  • Must have a degree of computer proficiency and Information Management Skills to carry out the major responsibilities of this position.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Brown experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of event planning with a focus on philanthropy.

  • Knowledge of Blackbaud preferred

  • Proficiency with social media and emerging technologies.
