Position Details:

 

Summary of Duties:

 

Under the faculty supervision, the incumbent will manage the day-to-day aspects of the Clean Plant Center Northwest (CPCNW), including supervision of managerial staff and through them, supervision of line staff, and overseeing the hiring and annual review processes, assigning duties and responsibilities as required.

 

The incumbent will make major decisions regarding annual budgeting and expenditure, seeking to increase and diversity center revenue while serving the NCPN and WSU Land Grant missions. They will define and implement contractual services, and ensure their completion.

 

The incumbent will assume responsibility for program operations and administration, and ensure the highest standard of plant material produced, taking care to follow all USDA-APHIS-PPQ and state regulatory (WSDA, ODA, etc.) requirements and rules. They will maintain any relevant regulatory permits, licenses, and approvals necessary to operate the CPCNW.

 

Finally, the incumbent will represent the interests of the CPCNW and WSU to external stakeholders including propagators, growers, and state and federal regulators.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

• Positions require a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, which has included at least one (1) year of managerial experience. A Master's degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Education and experience can be tailored to fit the specific organizational entity/directorial assignment. Positions may require applicable licensure and/or certification.

 

• Knowledge of perennial propagation and cropping systems.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Ph.D. in Plant Pathology or related discipline.

 

• Experience with state/federal plant regulatory agencies.
