  • Operate a wide variety of light and heavy-duty mowers and grounds equipment, such as push-type and self- propelled power mowers, front-end loaders, backhoes and tractors with attachments, necessary for proper grounds maintenance. Inspect all equipment prior to operation to ensure all safety features are in place and it is properly serviced.

  • Maintain grounds equipment in good operating condition by lubricating, sharpening blades and performing minor repairs per manufacturers recommendations. Report faulty equipment to supervisor.

  • Remove snow and ice from sidewalks, patios, entrances, roads and parking lots. Construct and dismantle snow fence, road signs, and markers. Operate a variety of light and heavy-duty snow removal equipment such as snow blowers, front-end loaders, dump trucks with plows and sanders.

  • Prepare ground for seedling or sodding by filling, hand-grading and raking. Properly spread seed.

  • Mix and apply pesticides, fungicides and herbicides. Apply fertilizers, lime and other treatments on lawns, trees, shrubs and beds.

  • Maintain and construct flowerbeds by arranging plantings, mulching and fertilizing.

  • Excavate trenches for installation or repair of ETS utility systems including water mains, electrical wiring and sewage collection systems.

  • Maintain area drainage by keeping catch basins, parking lot storm drains, and runoffs clean and free from obstructions. Create rainwater runoff swales and install porous pipe drains where needed.

  • Maintain property appearance and safety by removing undergrowth, weeds, paper, fallen limbs, leaves and other debris.

  • Properly prune trees and shrubs and perform minor tree surgery; fell trees, split and store firewood for use at various facilities.

  • Maintain and construct nature trails, trail bridges and softball fields. Set up and take down markers and air sock at ETS’s heliport.

  • Operate a variety of hand tools and portable power tools in performing daily tasks.

  • Perform assigned projects or tasks that may require working in or under unpleasant or hazardous conditions Includes confined spaces, use of ladders, flooding, odors, heat, cold, mud, rain, snow and lifting up to 50 pounds. May require overtime in order to meet maintenance schedules or emergency situations. All snow personnel are on an “on-call” status during the snow season.

  • As needed perform duties normally associated with other trade areas including maintaining the general cleanliness and appearance of equipment and physical surroundings.

  • Adhere to ethical standards and comply with the laws and regulations applicable to your job function.

  • A High School diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.

  • A NJ Pesticide Applicators License is preferred for Category #3B.

  • A valid driver's license is required.
