Summary

PSM Coordinator organizes and maintains the Process Safety Management (PSM) program for Perdue ammonia refrigeration systems, equipment, and personnel by ensuring compliance with PSM and Risk Management Plan (RMP) and all federal, state, and local regulations as they relate to the Prince George and Lewiston operations. This position also provides administrative and technical support to the Maintenance Planning function of the Prince George location.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Organizes and maintains the Process Safety Management (PSM) program for the company's ammonia refrigeration systems, equipment, and personnel by ensuring compliance with PSM and Risk Management Plan (RMP) and all federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Reviews system altering capabilities or processes prior to implementation.

  • Organizes and provides PSM/HAZWOPER mandated training to all applicable associates and contractors.

  • Reviews and assists with the Management of Change (MOCs), Pre-Start Up Safety Reviews (PSSRs), and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA).

  • Reviews all refrigeration action plans for ammonia-related projects to ensure compliance and viability with the PSM program.

  • Organizes and provides leadership for all 14 elements of PSM by reading and reviewing mechanical and electrical drawings, procedures and ammonia-related programs and policies.

  • In the event of any PSM audit activity, serves as the primary respondent.

  • Actively participates in all refrigeration team activities and programs and work to improve their skills by staying abreast of current technologies.

  • When necessary, manages and schedules refrigeration operator’s training to include PSM, Confined Space, HAZWOPER, and Hot Work. Additional off-site refrigeration training may be required for this position.

  • Issues and processes all PSM related work orders.

Minimum Education

High school or equivalent. Two year degree in a related field is preferred.

Experience Requirements

0 -3 years related experience.

Experience Preferred

Experience in PSM, Refrigeration and boiler operation are preferred.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings. May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another. May need to access files, supplies and equipment.

When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.

May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity. May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db. to 110 db.

May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.

Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
