The Northern Light Health RT Sponsorship program consists of the following benefits:
Employees accepted into the two-year accredited program will be awarded full tuition paid for the Respiratory Therapy program offered through Kennebec Valley Community College (KVCC).
During the sponsorship timeframe, Northern Light AR Gould will pay for the employee to attend class, labs and study, up to 20 hours per week.
During the sponsorship timeframe, the employee will work 16 hours per week. Employees accepted into the program will be considered full time and will be eligible to receive full time benefits.
At the completion of the program and licensure, the employee promises to fulfill a work commitment as a Full Time Respiratory Therapist with Northern Light Health AR Gould for 3 years.
To be considered, candidates must start the admissions process through Kennebec Valley Community College (KVCC), Western Avenue, Fairfield, ME or hold an acceptance letter for the KVCC Respiratory Therapy Program.

Summary:
A Trainee – Respiratory Therapist may be employed up to twenty-four (24) months, on a full-time basis as they complete an approved program of study. Trainee positions are designed to “Earn while you Learn”, in a formal program of study. The training is supported by AR Gould and applicants are required to sign an extra-ordinary training agreement as part of the position offer. Once the trainee successfully passes the education program and the appropriate licensure/ certification examination, they are expected to transition to a full-time role in their area of study. Details and expectations are included in their letter of agreement/extra-ordinary training agreement. In addition to the essential duties for the course work, the training and /or competency evaluation is based upon the standard education curriculum and the essential duties of the position.
Responsibilities:
Upon completion of the education program, meet the essential duties and responsibilities for the position sought.
Actively participate in classroom and clinical experiences, adhering to all program requirements in order to successfully complete the program.
Meet all program admission requirements prior to being offered a position.
Meet all program exit requirements, including requirements for the certified/licensed position sought.
Keep Clinical Instructor informed of the patient’s status and changes as well as problems.
Comply with mandated hospital and departmental programs.
Accept responsibility for professional growth and development.
Demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy and objectives of AR Gould.
Work with the education and leadership team to assure a balance of work and educational responsibilities.
Other Information:
No previous clinical experience is required for Trainee – Respiratory Therapist.
Must meet program admission/certification/licensure requirements.
Will obtain active licensure or certification status within 120 days of completion of the program, unless otherwise specified in the agreement letter.
Must be able to read and write with proficiency to accomplish responsibilities.
Must attend all clinical and class educational sessions and complete the educational requirements of the course.
