Summary:

The Echocardiographer is directly accountable to the Manager of Imaging Services. The echocardiographer performs all cardiac echocardiograms and assists in cardiology procedures as required. Experience or desire to learn arterial Doppler studies.

Responsibilities:

1.Performs cardiac echocardiograms and arterial Doppler studies using developed procedures.

2.Maintains equipment in good operating condition

3.Provides direction and input for scheduling cardiac echos and arterial Doppler studies

4.Maintains all records within the scope of day-to-day operations of procedures performed, follow charge procedure using the computer and maintains log

5.Attends mandatory safety and educational programs to comply with A.R. Gould Hospital and Joint Commission requirements.

6.Performs other work-related duties as assigned/requested

Other Information:

1.Must meet one of the following criteria:

A. Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS).

B. Successful completion of an ultrasound or cardiovascular technology program which includes verified didactic and supervised clinical experience in echocardiograph.

C. Completion of full time (35 hours/week) clinical echocardiography experience performing echocardiograms plus on of the following:

D. Minimum of 12 months of echocardiography practice experience and the

performance of at least 600 echocardiograms/Doppler examinations.

  1. De-escalation and workplace violence training will be completed at hire prior to release from orientation

  2. Keeps BLS certification current and maintains registration requirements through continuing education programs.

  3. Diagnostic Sonography certification/experience desirable.
