The Public Defenders Office has a rewarding opportunity for an EDC Coordinator assisting our office in case preparation. The ideal candidate will be experienced in a legal environment.

Major Duties, Responsibilities
  • Prepare all files for EDC in critical situations, assembles all disclosure and case data, performs complicated ethical conflict checks, and coordinates with prosecution the timely forwarding of case discovery.
  • Coordinates with the Public Defender the assignment of complex cases. Processes data and prepares EDC reports for Public Defender.
  • Prepares and files Notice of Assignments on all cases, processes Grand Jury returns for assignment. Confirms appointments for all EDC cases, alerts assigned attorneys, and monitors attorney case counts pursuant to contract.
  • Drafts Motions to Continue when necessary and coordinates with County Attorney and courts. Creates contact list of out of custody defendants for telephonic contact before EDC.
  • Attends EDC hearings, when necessary, as a backup.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
