Siemens SW Developer of Traction Drives for Locomotives in Prague, Czech Republic

In the power transmission department, we are responsible for the accurate design of the entire power circuit from the pantograph to the traction motors including the traction converter control.

We are involved in the final documentation and software for the control of sophisticated technology and thus contribute to increase the reliability and safety of modern locomotives. Help us build a better world not just for the next generation!

Main responsibilities:

  • Design and development of software for control of traction drives for locomotives

  • Analysis of requirements, crafting the architecture and defining the interfaces

  • Design, development, implementation, testing and verification of control SW as well as the actual design of SW tools for testing of the control SW

  • Participation in laboratory and vehicle tests in test centres and on customer tracks

  • Provide support during vehicle commissioning

  • Work in international teams across the world

Key qualifications:

  • University degree or equivalent experience focused on electric drives or control systems

  • Knowledge of programming SW for real-time control and of transferring control data between vehicle control systems via communication bus

  • Experience with the process of designing, developing, testing and maintaining SW that performs safety-relevant functions (SIL>0)

  • English or German for everyday communication

  • Czech for daily communication

  • Practical experience in the control of traction drives
