Overview

Management & Training Corporation proudly operates the Giles W. Dalby Correctional Facility providing pre-trial and presentenced male residents with excellent care including medical services that support their health and well-being.

Position : Dentist

Location: 805 N Avenue F, Post, TX 79356

Rate of pay: $91.93 per hour

Employment type: Direct hire; Part-time

Work schedule: 24 hours per week; Daytime hours

Setting: Ambulatory-like setting with short-stays and urgent care

Position summary: The dentist directly supervises the dental hygienists and dental assistant. She/he is responsible for providing preventive and corrective dental care to residents in compliance with MTC Medical and customer directives.

Essential responsibilities:

  • Provide dental diagnostic and treatment services to detainees using current knowledge of methods, practices, procedures and techniques of providing quality diagnosis and treatment in accordance with ICE standards.

  • Legibly document all treatment promptly and accurately.

  • Provide guidance and technical supervision to dental hygienists/dental assistants performing direct/indirect patient care service.

  • Coordinate clinic operations with the health services administrator.

  • Maintain an effective clinical patient scheduling and record-keeping system.

  • Maintain records on clinic operations and prepare required reports as needed.

  • Schedule patients in accordance with ICE guidelines.

  • Coordinate and participate in patient education programs and services.

  • Provide consultation, guidance, and in-service education to other health services staff.

  • Refer patients to oral health specialists for consultations, evaluations, and treatments.

  • Adhere to established corporate, facility, and correctional policies/procedures in making decisions while using sound independent judgment.

  • Maintain security and confidentiality of all patients medical records.

  • Implement basic cost containment and utilization management for patient care and facility operations.

  • Comply with all applicable pharmacy regulations, especially those regarding controlled substances.

  • Assist corporate counsel with responses to inmate lawsuits.

  • Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings, QI, UM, P&T, and other meetings as required.

  • Facilitate, where applicable, NCCHC/ACA accreditation of the medical program by providing the required level of efficiency and approved appropriate medical services.

  • Perform rescue functions at accidents, emergencies and disasters to include administering basic emergency medical aid, physically removing people away from dangerous situations, and securing and evacuating people from confined areas.

  • Regular and predictable on-site attendance is required.

  • Position requires long periods of walking and standing.

Education and experience requirements:

  • A DDS or DMD degree from an accredited program is required.

  • A valid license to practice dentistry with DEA controlled substance registration in the state of Texas is required.

  • Two (2) years of general clinical practice is strongly preferred.

  • Must have a current CPR certification.

  • A valid drivers license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record is required, unless waived by management.

  • Must pass a background check prior to employment.
