Pay: $21.49 per hour

Job responsibilities: Youll assist with the preparation of facility meals.

Essential functions:

  1. Prepare and cook quantity of food required according to menu and number of inmates.

  2. Ensure work area is safe, clean and sanitary at all times.

  3. Direct the work of the inmate food service workers assigned to assist in the kitchen.

  4. Requires long periods of standing and walking to include climbing stairs and the ability to push and/or pull food carts.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • A valid food handlers permit is also required, if required by the state of Texas.

  • Food service training, one (1) year of food service or related experience and prior supervisory experience are preferred.

  • Must possess a Jailer Certificate as determined by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).

  • Must pass background check, physical and psychological assessment as determined by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • A valid driver license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
