Microsoft Access Database Developer

Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Data Analyst to join our team at SURFMEPP in Portsmouth, Va.

The Surface Maintenance Engineering, Planning, Program (SURFMEPP) maintains, monitors, and refines Class-wide and Individual-Ship Maintenance Plans for all non-nuclear surface ships to ensure material readiness for the projected service life, develop life-cycle strategies to address system upgrades, and fully implement the Class Maintenance Plan into each surface ship's maintenance schedule and availability planning process. SURFMEPP is headquartered at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA.

Summary:

  • Assists with SURFMEPP Command special projects.

  • Validate perceived ship maintenance issues by conducting data driven analysis, presenting results in various forms such as Pareto charts, Venn diagrams, histograms, pie charts.

  • Harvest and analyze data from various Navy ship maintenance databases.

  • Demonstrates ability to follow direction and work semi-independently or within a team. Analyze functional business applications and design specifications for functional activities.

  • Develop block diagrams and logic flow charts.

  • Translate detailed design into Access database applications.

  • Create tables, queries, forms, and reports as required.

  • Test, debug, analyze, repair, update and refine the database to produce the required product.

  • Prepare required documentation, including both program-level and user-level documentation.

  • Conduct detailed maintenance and additions to the MS Access databases are needed to ensure the programs run smoothly and effectively.

  • Enhance software to reduce operating time or improve efficiency.

  • Make improvements to the MS Access databases to ensure improvement in the data entry process.

  • Develop forms to make application more user friendly and enable users to quickly enter field data.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree, or a High School Diploma plus 6 years of related professional experience in program support of a DoD/ Navy programs in lieu of degree

  • Advanced-Level proficiency in Microsoft Access

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications (Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Word) and other database management tools and software, particularly (Power Apps, Power BI, and Power Automate)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

BAWP tracker:

  • Experience Conducting functional analysis of the excel worksheet based tool to understand how it works, what information it’s showing and the data sources from which it draws

  • Experience converting functionality from Excel to Access and link to OneDrive and SharePoint Online.

M&SWP/ MBPS Interface:

  • Experience Conducting functional analysis of the legacy ACCESS database to understand how it works, what information its producing and facilitate its interaction with MBPS.

  • Experience upgrading functionality to feed the CMP tracker to ensure that tasks requiring action are properly adjudicated and OQE is captured for action.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must have a current/active Secret security clearance.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sedentary Work, lift and carry 50#

  • Extensive time in stationary position

  • Be able to move around the office

  • Operate office equipment.

  • Be able to communicate professionally with ManTech employees and ManTech clients.

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.

  • Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual.
