Job Title: Medical Assistant (Portsmouth Family Med)

Job Description

• Triage incoming patients by obtaining vital signs, chief complaint, reconciling medication lists, reconciling allergies, assessing smoking status, and preparing patients for visits.

• Prepare exam rooms for patient visits, restock clinical areas and exam rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain medical equipment.

• Document interventions in the electronic medical record, review charts for completeness, test results, and billing.

• Scan upcoming appointments for additional medical record information, and obtain records from other physician offices, hospitals, labs, emergency rooms, and radiology prior to patient visits.

• Complete all assigned tasks including responding to patient messages, prescription refills, lab results, referrals, home health agencies, medication prior authorizations, patient forms, and follow-ups from physicians. Ensure all tasks are reviewed, addressed, and marked appropriately before the close of each business day.

• As part of the Patient Centered Medical Home, administer and collect patient satisfaction surveys, contact patients between visits to assess medical status and medication adherence. Follow protocols related to infection control, environmental safety, and patient confidentiality. Complete annual recertification for OSHA, Compliance, Respiratory FIT, and IT policy. Maintain current CPR and MA certification.

• Fill in for other clinical staff during vacations and illnesses, and perform other duties as assigned by physicians or supervisors.

Work Site

Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM with a 30-minute lunch break.
