This position will act as an active transportation subject matter expert and will lead active transportation aspects of various transportation planning projects and marketing pursuits across the company. This position may also provide expertise in existing transportation options as well as emerging modes and technology applications. These service areas may be the specific focus of an individual project or may complement broader projects that include traffic analysis, multimodal corridor studies, long-range planning, travel demand modeling and forecasting, and data analytics. Ideal candidates will be proactive with a positive attitude and a willingness to take on new challenges and lead tasks or projects. What will you be doing? Leadership and subject matter expertise in active transportation to help shape and grow this practice across DKS Interfacing with clients, agency staff, and stakeholders Identifying new clients and managing client relationships to win and deliver projects related to active transportation Mentoring employee owners in their professional growth and enhancing their skills Leading transportation planning analysis and conceptual design (focus on complete streets and active transportation modes) Leading technical tasks and reviewing technical work prepared by others Leading the development of active transportation plan presentation materials, websites, and documents in coordination with creative services professionals Research funding mechanisms for active transportation programs through local, state, and federal grants Managing projects and developing project schedule, budget, and scope Collaborating with teams across our nationwide offices Leading companywide training on new practices in active transportation What are we looking for? Master\'s or Bachelor\'s Degree in Civil Engineering, Urban and Regional Planning, or related field 8+ years of progressive experience in active transportation planning and preparation of planning documents such as corridor streetscape and facility plans, regional and citywide active transportation plans, Safe Routes to School/Transit plans, trail and greenway plans, travel demand management strategies, and educational programs Experience applying design guidance from the Oregon Department of Transportation and leading industry sources such as NACTO, NCHRP, FHWA, ITE, MUTCD, and AASHTO to develop active transportation improvement concept designs Experience linking investments in active transportation to common community values such as reducing greenhouse gases, equity, and public health See more at DKS
