Position Summary: The Payroll Supervisor, driven by their passion for collaboration and achieving positive outcomes, will champion exceptional customer service and uphold the core values of Hoffman Construction Company. Reporting directly to the Payroll Manager and collaborating closely with fellow members of the payroll team, the Payroll Supervisor will play a pivotal role in processing a high-volume, bi-weekly, payroll for both domestic and international employees. They will utilize their skills in planning and prioritizing to optimize existing processes while continually seeking opportunities for continuous improvement. As a key player on the team, the Payroll Supervisor will serve as both a leader and an individual contributor, learning all facets of the department, and contributing to the overall success of the business and its employees.

To provide the support required for an in-house, full-cycle, multi-state, and international confidential payroll this position will be 100% in-office.

Salary Range: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist and support the payroll team in performing all aspects of a biweekly, multistate, confidential payroll for both domestic and international employees.

  • Maintain current knowledge of regulatory wage and hour laws and guidelines and industry best practices to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.

  • Lead and streamline all tasks associated with, or in connection to, compensation and payroll including:

  • Regular and bonus payroll processing

  • State Unemployment Insurance reporting

  • Managing Life insurance premiums

  • Worker’s Compensation reporting and reconciliation

  • Internal equity compensation plan

  • Oversee federal, state, and local payroll tax compliance, system set-up, and balancing.

  • Support employee profile creation in payroll and HRIS systems, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.

  • Manage payroll-related termination processes, ensuring compliance with final paycheck laws.

  • Coordinate with third-party tax experts to ensure compliance with US and overseas tax requirements.

  • Provide excellent service to all levels of employees by researching payroll discrepancies, and responding to inquires in a positive, professional, and timely fashion.

  • Collaborate closely with the Payroll Manager, and team to implement best practices and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred

  • Associate degree in accounting, or related subject, or equivalent work experience preferred.

    Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience with non-union full cycle payroll required.

  • Professional team leadership experience required.

  • Experience working in JD Edwards (E1 or JD Edwards World) preferred.

  • Full-cycle, in house payroll processing experience preferred

  • Including new hire system entry, employee profile setup, payroll processing, tax assessment, benefit calculations, separation processing, quarterly and year-end closeouts

  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred.

    Position Related Skills

  • Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point and Teams), and have a general understanding of working within a computer network.

  • Working knowledge in JD Edwards or similar ERP One platform preferred.

  • Understanding of common payroll systems such as Oracle, ADP, etc.

  • Ability to work well and maintain a cooperative attitude through high-pressure situations.

  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work while frequently interrupted by phone calls and questions on work in progress.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships.

  • Excellent organizational skill with strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to work well in a large professional setting. Patience and professionalism are essential.

  • Must be a strong team player with the ability to collaborate with various personnel within and across departments and at all levels of leadership.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Standing/Walking/Sitting: workday is combination of standing, walking and sitting.

  • Must be able to climb stairs: 5% of day. 

  • Hands/Arms: constant use of hands/fingers for mouse/keyboard/computer use. 

  • Sight: visual acuity in near, mid and far range vision. Color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, hand/eye coordination. 

  • Hearing: sufficient to hear conversational levels in person and over the telephone.

  • Speech: sufficient to make oneself heard in person, speak in front of groups, and be understood over the telephone.

  • Bending/Twisting: minimal. 

  • Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: minimal. 

  • Constant mental alertness, accuracy, and attention to detail required. 

  • Must be able to work independently, make decisions, and follow through on all assignments. 

  • Must use creativity, independent judgment, and organizational and problem-solving skills to determine best method to accomplish desired results. 

  • Must be able to plan and organize work. 

  • Must possess strong organizational and computer use skills and have a high level of competency to read/write/speak English, interpret construction related documentation and communicate with coworkers.
